At Laura's Learning Studios, I provide personalised tutoring services for children aged 7-13. With over 21 years of experience as a primary teacher and headteacher, I am passionate about making learning fun and developing essential skills across the curriculum. My small group teaching approach ignites a love of learning, with a bit of creativity added to the mix, giving young people the opportunity to shine.
Tutoring takes place in a learning studio in my home, a light, warm, calm and inviting room with lots of supportive materials, space to investigate and explore learning in a nurturing and friendly environment.
We organise a day where I can come to meet you and your child. We chat. I complete some light assessments and we discuss goals for the future.
Your child will join one of my small groups. I deliver expert, personalised small group sessions tailored to your child’s needs. All with a creative twist.
I regularly assess progress, adapting the plan to ensure ongoing engagement and improvement. I maintain communication through weekly parent updates so you feel in the loop.
I create a customized curriculum for each of my students based on their learning needs. This ensures that my students get the most out of their tutoring sessions and make progress towards achieving their own goals.
I believe that a relaxed, comfortable and gentle learning environment is crucial for my students. When you feel safe and happy, then you can learn. That's why I offer tutoring sessions in a studio space that is bright, calm and fun. There is an ethos and atmosphere of giving it a go, exploring and discovering.
I believe that learning how to learn is just as important as the subject matter itself. I will help your young person discover their own learning style which they can then apply to other learning settings. We will use a wide range of resources to support their learning and make the learning real.
With years of experience and a deep understanding of the education system - what works and what doesn't, I offer expert guidance that helps young people succeed whether that is engaging back into the learning environment, developing peer learning skills, or specific literacy, numeracy or wellbeing goals. My aim is to support your child to become a confident learner and to find joy along the way.
Whether your young person needs help with a specific subject, needs a nurturing tutor to re-engage them with the joy of learning, has gaps in their learning that are preventing progression, or that they wish to improve their overall academic performance, I am here to help.
